Doug DeAngelis is a producer, engineer, composer and music supervisor who entered the music industry as a teenager with vision, and is recognized today as a global thought leader for the music industry.
His professional career began at age eighteen, as a multi-platinum programmer and engineer on the groundbreaking Nine Inch Nails album Pretty Hate Machine. By age 25, his credits extended to over 250 singles by many the biggest artists in the world. His drive to innovate was tapped by many of the world’s most renowned DJs and remixers in New York, Chicago, Detroit, and London. Spawning thirty-one singles to reach #1 on the Billboard Dance Charts, his work with the trailblazers of dance music shaped the birth of EDM in America.
After a decade of record production, Doug relocated to Los Angeles and shifted his focus to film and television music. His provocative style of angular electronic production caught the attention of leading Hollywood directors including Michael Mann, Brian Grazier, and John Wells. While earning a BMI Award for the score of Lie To Me, he was simultaneously music directing the first of Hollywood’s talent competition shows, and pioneering independent song production and placement in television and film; the industry practice now termed ‘SYNC’.
In addition to writing over 3,000 pieces of music for television and film, Doug has music supervised and music directed dozens of scripted and reality television shows, and live television events. He specializes in the contemporary awards shows in all musical genres hosted by iHeart Radio, Billboard, MTV, Nickelodeon, CNN, FOX, and more.
Outside of the studio, Doug focuses on his passion for industry thought leadership. He is the Co-Founder and Conference Chair of A3E, a future-focused education summit that brings together the brightest minds in music technology to discuss its impact on the music industry. A3E launched in 2013, and runs at NAMM and Musikmesse events in Los Angeles, Nashville, Frankfurt, Moscow, and Shanghai.
In 2016, Doug put his thought leadership into practice as the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of BlackSleeve Media. His goal was to develop new technology capable of applying the monetization practices of the video game industry to the music industry.
